No Man is an Island re-introduces the work of around 40 of this year’s graduating students from the Royal College of Art. Taking as its starting point the recent final shows, and incorporating the spectrum of disciplines, No Man is an Island posits a cross-disciplinary dialogue across mediums. The exhibition responds to and goes beyond the shows at the RCA by suggesting links across mediums that are hidden by the limitations of discipline specific display.

No Man is an Island includes work as diverse as painting, graphic design, goldsmithing, interaction design, product design, animation and ceramics yet does not posit a simple thematic traceable throughout. Rather works are loosely threaded together, simply existing in the same place at the same time in order for possible new associations to be created, new relationships to be formed and new ideas to come to light. Regardless of discipline, works are commonly futuristic or nostalgic, concerned with the family and the domestic or the environment and the social.

No Man is an Island is curated by Rose Lejeune and co-curated by Florencia Durante and Tom Lucas
